Oxy Fuel Flame Cutting Services

Leeco® Steel offers oxygen-fuel – or oxy fuel – flame cutting services to cut thick steel plate material down to size or into parts for customers.

What is Oxy Fuel Flame Cutting?

Oxy fuel flame cutting is a method of cutting steel and metal materials that uses a flame to heat the surface, followed by a blast of oxygen. The chemical reaction between oxygen and steel increases the temperature of the flame, allowing it to cut, or burn away, the steel. This cutting method is effective on thick materials.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Oxy Fuel Cutting

Invented in the early 1900s, oxy fuel machines have effectively cut a wide range of steel plate gauges for decades. These machines have multiple flame heads, which can efficiently cut repeating patterns into a material. However, oxy fuel cutting can be slower and less effective when cutting materials outside its ideal thickness range.
