PVQ is often available in as-rolled, as well as normalized conditions. Normalization increases the ductility and notch toughness (or, the ability to absorb energy despite a material flaw) of material, both of which are ideal attributes for pressure vessel manufacturers and engineers. While similar, this process is slightly different than other heat treatments, such as quenched and tempering.
