ABS steel plate is certified for use in shipbuilding applications by the American Bureau of Shipbuilding. This material is comprised of higher-strength steel that is produced to withstand harsh maritime conditions.
Leeco Steel stocks the following standard sizes, but other sizes may be available for special orders.

ABS steel plate is commonly used in the marine industry for the building of structural parts of ships, barges and marine equipment.
ABS steel plate is standardized and highly regulated to meet necessary specifications for use in maritime applications.
With great strength and toughness, ABS plate grades can also endure strong forces from waves and wind without breaking or failing.
The following material properties are ASTM A131 specifications as required by ABS and will be confirmed on the Mill Test Report. Elongation is dependent on plate thickness, but is listed in a range below.
Grade | Yield Point (ksi) | Tensile Strength (ksi) | Min. 2" Elongation % |
A | 34 | 58-75 | 22 |
B | 34 | 58-75 | 22 |
D | 34 | 58-75 | 22 |
E | 34 | 58-75 | 22 |
AH36 | 51 | 71-90 | 20 |
DH36 | 51 | 71-90 | 20 |
EH36 | 51 | 71-90 | 20 |
