Lisle, IL – October 22, 2019 – Leeco® Steel, one of the largest suppliers of steel plate in North America, celebrates seven-years accident-free at its Portage, Indiana distribution plant.

The plant currently holds one of the longest running accident-free streaks at Leeco’s warehouse facilities.

“It is very important that we all stay safe and go home uninjured,” Mike Vinson, Portage Warehouse Manager, said. “Nobody wants to get hurt. We take that extra second to think about what we are doing, and I think our attention to detail is why we have such a long record of being accident-free.”

In addition to adhering to safety prevention procedures already in place, employees at the Portage plant take extra steps to remain safe by watching for trip hazards, being mindful of their position in relation to moving plates and proactively reminding coworkers of safety protocols.

Employees at the Portage plant make safety a top priority, and Vinson credits Leeco’s culture for encouraging a safety-first mindset.

“Leeco has a culture of safety and caring for everybody,” Vinson said. “Our safety is important to Leeco, and with their support and resources, we have been able to achieve seven years without an accident. We look forward to extending our record in 2020.”

Leeco’s 11 distribution facilities are currently accident-free in 2019. The Monterrey, Mexico and Houston plants also have long streaks of being accident-free.
