Leeco® Steel, the largest supplier of steel plate in North America, received the Metal Service Center Institute’s (MSCI) 2021 “Safety Culture Improvement” award during a virtual ceremony on May 11.

The MSCI Safety Culture Improvement award recognizes companies that implemented a company-wide initiative to increase employee safety engagement or educate employees about the importance of safety.

MSCI selected winners based on the uniqueness of their initiative and the degree to which it was a “culture-based” approach. Leeco’s award nomination focused on enhancements to the company’s communications program, led by Jill Laumann, Safety Manager, and Chad Schuh, Vice President of Operations.

“Leeco is honored to receive MSCI’s 2021 Safety Culture Improvement award,” said Denton Nordhues, President & CEO. “Safety is our top priority. Each and every employee plays a significant role in our safety program, and without their efforts, we would not be able to make safety such a key part of our culture.”

As of May 2022, Leeco is 43 months-accident-free across ten of its 11 facilities. Six of Leeco’s 11 facilities are over 6 years accident-free.
