AR Medium
AR Medium covers carbon-manganese steel plates with abrasion resistance superior to that of most structural quality carbon steels. Plates are intended for moderate wear applications where they offer improved wear resistance comparable to an as-rolled structural carbon steel. These plates are not intended for structural applications and should not be used for structural or main load-bearing members. These plates can be ordered to AR 200 or AR 235, depending on the producing mill's capabilities.
Chemical Requirements:
| AR 200 | AR 235 | |
| Carbon | .32 - .36 | .40 - .50 |
| Manganese | .90 - 1.30 | .60 - .90 |
| Phosphorous | .040 max | .040 max |
| Sulfur | .010 max | .050 max |
| Silicon | .35 max | .10 - .40 |
| Chromium | .25 max | |
| Nickel | .25 max | |
| Copper | .15 - .45 | |
| Note: Maximum thickness up to 1' incl | ||
Mechanical Requirements:
AR 200 - HBW 200 nominal
AR 235 - HBW 235 nominal
AR 400F
AR 400F steel plates are premium abrasion-resistant heat-treated plates exhibiting through-hardening, improved forming and welding capabilities. Plates are suitable for mining, forestry and construction applications that require a good level of abrasion resistance. Each producing mill has its own proprietary chemical composition and heat treating process. Mill specific specifications are available upon request.

AR 500
AR 500 steel plates are premium abrasion-resistant heat treated plates exhibiting through-hardening, improved forming and welding capabilities. Plates are suitable for mining, forestry and construction applications that require an extreme level of abrasion resistance. Each producing mill has its own proprietary chemical composition and heat treating process. Mill-specific specifications are available upon request.
